duodenum
The liver and pancreas are connected to the duodenum, the first section of the small intestine where most of the chemical digestion occurs. The liver has hepatic ducts (tubes that direct the secretions) that join with the cystic duct from the gallbladder to form the common bile duct that enters the duodenum. The pancreas has it's own pancreatic duct which joins with the common bile duct just before entering the small intestine at a structure called the hepatopancreatic ampulla (also known as the amulla of Vater). These ducts release the digestive enzymes and bile that allow the duodenum to carry out the majority of chemical digestion and food absorption.
The large intestine is the shorter but wider section of the intestine. The small intestine is longer but narrower.
They enter the Duodenum which is the shortest section (about 10 inches long) of the small intestine.
The small intestine, in particular, the first section known as the duodenum through an inlet called the major duodenal papilla.
The most important are the stomach, small intestine, pancreas, and large intestine. Most of your food is digested by the small intestine in its first section called the duodenum. And the large intestine reabsorbs water and eliminates the undigested food in the feces.
The last section of the small intestine is the ileum.
The duodenum is the section of the small intestine that is attached to the stomach.
The second, or middle section of the large intestine is the transverse colon.
The ascending colon is the first section of the large intestine.
The duodenal loop is a section of the small intestine. It is in this section of the small intestine that chemical digestion begins.
