Scientists can measure that the global temperature is rising. They know that rising temperatures will change the climate. Weather happens from day to day, but climate change takes longer, several years, or several decades before it becomes clear that it is happening. That is the situation now. Scientists know that rising temperatures will change the climate.
Scientists can't stop it melting. All they can do, is study what is happening and advise everyone else of any actions society as a whole could or should take co-operatively to ameliorate any accelerating effect Man may be having on the process. So while scientists cannot "stop melting ice" they can advise us on what to do for the best - which is finding genuine alternatives to fossil-fuelled electricity generation and to materials sourced from the raw fuel-stock, and finding more sustainable ways for humanity generally. Basically scientists can only advise us on how to cope with the situation and how to reduce the damage we are doing.
A situation in which the chromosome number can be represented as either 2n plus 1 or 2n-1 is called aneuploidy. Aneuploidy refers to an abnormal number of chromosomes, either an extra or a missing chromosome, compared to the normal diploid number. This can lead to genetic disorders and developmental abnormalities.
