This answer website does not have the ability to draw diagrams. From the positive side of the battery connect it to one side of the switch. From the other side of the switch connect it to the centre terminal of the first bulb's socket and then continue the wire to the centre terminal of the second bulb's socket. From the negative side of the battery, connect a wire to the shell terminal of the first bulb's socket and then continue the wire to the shell terminal of the second bulb's socket. When you turn the switch on the both lamps will glow.

You don't say what you are connecting to the battery. If you have a black and white wire the best guess would be white to negative terminal and black to positive terminal. If you were connecting a 6V light bulb it really doesn't matter.
Use a small light bulb, such as 25-50 watt. Connect 120 VAC power to the big L1 terminal. Connect the big T1 terminal to the light bulb. Connect the neutral to the light bulb. The light bulb will be OFF. Connect another 120 VAC wire to the control input terminal #3. Connect another neutral to the control input terminal #4. The light bulb will now be ON. Connect them in series. With the 2 batteries sitting side by side just connect the negative terminal (-) on battery # 1 to the positive terminal (+) of battery # 2. Now connect the red hot cable to the positive terminal of battery # 1. Then connect the negative black cable to battery #2. You will have 12 volts but the amperage of only 1 battery.
