2. PTO was a naval war.
Both wars had a little bit of each of the other (ground/sea/air warfare).
The primary combatant in the ETO was the Soviet Union and United Kingdom.
The primary combatant in the PTO was the US.
The Soviets called the ETO, the "Great Patriotic War." Against Germany.
The US called the PTO, the "Pacific War". Against Japan.
