It depends which side of the road the retards are on when the Chevy passes.
The way the rotor rotates retards. If the distributor turns clockwise, then turning the distributor clockwise retards the timing.
The easiest way is to look at the Harmonic Balancer. The 305 has a wider thicker balancer than the 350. Pus the timing tab on a 305 is located ON the timing cover and the 350 is bolted on the with the cover bolts. Riky9
Turn it to the opposite direction that the rotor rotates.
The only way to set the timing is with a OBDII engine scanner. You CANNOT use a timing light. The timing is computor controlled.
there will be a timing mark on the harmonic balancer. and a timing tab on the timing chain cover. point your timing light at the timing tab and you should see the timing mark on balancer. if not timing is way out.markstang.
the easiest way... valve and timing adjustments doesnt mean itll work right though
very much so....you can bend vaulves and put a hole in the piston
Probably. It might be hard to set the timing to the correct specs if the vacuum canister gets in the way.
That would be to the left of the timing pointer Or left of ZERO TDC
The 2000 silverado did not have a 350 engine in it. Unless someone put a 350 in it. The 2000 model trucks had 1 of these engines in it. V6-4.3L, V8 engines are-4.8L, 5.3L 6.0L And the factory 2000 year engine timing is not adjustable, it is controlled by the computer. you can also get a v8 5.7.... and the only way to adjust the timing is to get it programed or get a power programmer
Timing chain may have broke or jumped and the pistons are hitting open valves.
The timing on y our 1987 Chevy Celebrity is controlled by the engine computer, there is no way provided to adjust it.
