I don't know who killed Goliath with five stones, but i do know who killed Goliath with ONE stone and that was David.

The main point in my opinion is that when a man mocks God, he is destined for a fall. David was content in his victory, because he knew that God was fighting for him. So why five stones? Because Goliath had four brothers, who were giants also.

What we have is a copying error, where "the brother of" was mistakenly omitted from the original. The King James writers were correct to insert it into 1 Samuel. No contradiction, no inconsistency.
