Gypsy & the Cat are one of the latest duo bands out of Melbourne, Australia.

The guys consist of Lionel Towers and Xavier Bacash - born in Victoria.

Their music is a blend of synthetic pop/rock and acoustic soft rock: much of their overall sound has abeen based around sounds of the 1970's and 1980's, with contemporary flavours and aspects. lthough much in their 2012 album has moved in a more reggae direction.

The pair have been extremely popular as a result mainly of their internet exposure - more particularly through MySpace [They go under "Gypsy & the Cat" specifically], and their subsequent introduction via Triple J radio station.

Various Radio stations have played their music, especially their very popular, "Jona Vark" - Internet version.

They released their first single in 2010, called, "Time to Wander".

Their first album, Gilgamesh, sold 250,000 units by mid-2012, and they were heavily booked for concerts in Germany, northern Europe, Japan. China and Australia during 2011.

Although licensing to other companies has been granted re one or two of their earlier releases, their actual first contract was with RCA in UK. Terms and conditions have not, so far, been adequately met re signing US contracts.

In August 2012, they released "Sorry" from their 2ndalbum due out in the future.

Among their other first big Australian concert appearances, they have performed at "Splendour in the Grass" in both 2011 and 2012 (late July), in Queensland, Australia and were the feature group in Kylie Minogue's last Australia-wide tour.
