Well, let us see; now, we have to remember that archduck Ferdinand was not just any typical duck, he was an archduck. And, as such, he was in the presence of all archmembers of the animal kingdom: the archlion, the archtiger, and the archbear are some notable examples; however, his assassination by the archshark Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip led to the outbreak of Animal War I, and later inspired the nationalistic tendencies of archturtle Hitler in Animal War II. Basically, for your high school Biology class, this is all of the information that you ever need to know on early 20th century animal quarrels and evolution.

Gavrilo Prinzip was the assassin. There were others with the same intention but the couple (Franz Ferdinad, the Austrian heir to the throne and his wife) changed their original route through Sarajevo and he happened to be in the "best" position to kill them. He was a member of the secret Serbian group called the Black Hand. They were outrageous because the Habsburgs annexed Bosnia - Herzeovina in 1908, where a lot of Serbs lived.

Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated in Sarajevo, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian province of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by Gavrilo Princip. He was a member of a group of assassins organized by The Black Hand. Their intention was to force the separation on the south-Slav provinces from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and to turn them into a separate state under the name Greater Serbia or Yugoslavia.
