The celebrants may choose to utilise the services of a legally ordained High Priestess or Priest, an interfaith minister, or other community leader experienced in officiating Pagan, Wiccan, and other Earth- and Nature-based religion weddings, handfastings and commitment ceremonies. So long as they are comfortable with their choice that is all that matters.

What is a Wiccan or Pagan marriage ceremony called?

handfasting

Can you perform you own handfasting without a priest or priestess?

Sure you can, though its a bit out of the norm to officiate your own handfasting. To have it be legally recognized in the US it needs to be performed by someone other than yourself who is recognized as an wedding officiant. The way around this would be to have a notary marry you and your partner and then conduct the religious ceremony separate between you and your partner.

Can a RC priest officiate at an outdoor ceremony?

Yes, I don't see why they wouldn't be able too.

Do you have to have a minister do your wedding ceremony my bf and i are both agnostic and find it pointless and hard to find a minister due to our beliefs?

In a word, no, you can have a civil ceremony - it is yourwedding after all, it's the one occassion when you can do what you want. A judge can officiate a wedding ceremony or, if you are on the coasts, a captain of a ship can officiate a wedding in international waters. In other places, a registry office or a wedding celebrant.

How was a wedding preformed in the time of shakespeare?

Elizabethan weddings were not so different from modern ones: - a church ceremony followed by some sort of party or reception if the parents could afford it. But Elizabethans also recognised 'handfasting' - a ceremony where the couple to be married would affirm their intention to get married at some future date in front of a group of witnesses. Handfasting wasn't usually as big a deal as a wedding, and usually it was seen only as the equivalent of a modern engagement (it was difficult to wriggle out of a handfasting, but not impossible). But sometimes a handfasted couple would then live as man and wife with no further ceremony. There was nothing 'wrong' in this - it was just unusual. And obviously, if the girl fell pregnant, there could be no more wriggling out. Because Elizabethans understood about handfasting they would sympathise with the tricks that Mariana and Helena play in Measure for Measure and All's Well, to trick their 'husbands' into getting them pregnant.

What props are needed for a wicca wedding?

While there are many different branches in Wicca - a typical Wiccan wedding is called a handfasting. All you really need is a length of ribbonm and a minister. My husband and I had a wonderful Wiccan handfasting. This is from wiki: "The marriage vows taken may be for "a year and a day," a lifetime, "for all of eternity" or "for as long as love shall last." Whether the ceremony is legal, or a private spiritual commitment, is up to the couple. Depending on the state where the handfasting is performed, and whether or not the officiant is a legally recognized minister, the ceremony itself may be legally binding, or couples may choose to make it legal by also having a civil ceremony." I would highly recomend the ritual used in Wicca For Life: The Way of the Craft-From Birth to Summerland by Buckland

Are there any videos of a Pagan wedding?

I haven't seen any videos, but there are web sites that describe a handfasting which is pretty much the same thing. Some Celtic sites also describe a handfasting. The handfasting's I have been to follow the pagan elements.
