The US became involved in the Vietnam War in an attempt to stop the spread of Communism. The US worried that if South Vietnam fell, it would create a domino effect. The war lasted from 1955 to 1975.
The Federalists were not worried about the Constitution; they were its chief supporters.
The Geneva agreement was held the day after Dien Bien Phu fell. President Eisenhower wanted the French to keep fighting, however the French had had enough. Ho chi Minh, the communist leader of North Vietnam, was extremely popular throughout the whole of Vietnam. this is why the Vietminh wanted early elections so the people of Vietnam could elect Ho Chi Minh. The Western powers were worried about Ho Chi Minh's poularity, and therefore wanted a long delay. They agreed on deviding Vietnam along the 17th parallel and decide an election should take place two years later. This election never came.

When the Vietnam War started, the world was in the grip of the Cold War. The United States was worried about the possible spread of Communism in Southeast Asia. We felt that we needed to act to prevent this.
well America got involved because the where worried about a dominoes effect with comunism because it had already spread through 1/4 of the world countries and they where worried about it hitting them

They were concerned because at the time, China was communist so (obviously) they were supporting the north of Vietnam. China could have been worried as America had been such a big force in WWII.
