Astronomy has records going back to at least 1200 BCE, (before Christian Era) and similar antiquity applies in Asia. The Sumerians of 2500 - 3200 BCE developed Cuneiform writing, and these folk gave us the 360 degree circle. Some records suggest attempts to name stars or constellations.
There is no particular person credited with such a discovery.
