The US Civil War battle of Shiloh was fought by Union and

Confederate armies. The battle was fought in April of 1862. Days:

6th and 7th. At Hardin County Tennessee. Southern forces were led

by Albert S. Johnston. Union forces were led by US Grant and later

by General Buell. After Union reinforcements arrived, the Rebel

army was forced to retreat.

The battle was named after the church named Shiloh, nearby to

where the Confederates first struck.
