Who has had an intermittent start problem with a Dodge Ram 1500 truck?

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Quadcab 1500. I usually experience intermittent start problems once every couple of weeks. I put the key in the ignition, turn and all I get is "click"?? The starter motor does not turn. After attempting to start for 5 or 10 minutes, it finally starts and everything is fine. I have changed out the battery cable connectors, checked the alternator, and the battery voltage is around 13.4 volts. I'm at my wits end with this problem. My guess would be a faulty starter motor or some type of sensor??? I just haven't figured out which one is might be???
