1910, Adams Farwell of Dubuque, Iowa, USA.

Commercially, used only on diesel engines (CI) till after WW2.

First common FI use was in German aviation gasoline (SI) engines, starting just before WW2, when Germany's Robert Bosch company's Dr. Lichte, developed a fuel injection system for aviation use that increased power or decreased fuel consumption about 3% on the Jumo 201 series engines.

The mid to late 30's, fuel injected Jumo 201G and the 1935 Daimler-Benz DB 601A-1 engines were used in the famous ME / BF 109 fighter plane series.

The Bosch developed systems had 14 different fuel pumps.

fuel injection as we know it now was invented by german ingeneers

If you cannot get gas to the fuel injection system, you may have a clog. You can have the system looked at and flushed out and take it from there.

Carburetor, mechanical fuel injection, throttle body electronic fuel injection, ported electronic fuel injection,

Carburetors and Fuel Injection... also direct and indirect fuel injection.

User Avatar

Sequential fuel injection is a type of ported fuel injection, yes.

M.P.F.I. Multi Point Fuel Injection. This is a fuel injection system for gasoline engine.

User Avatar

Yes it does. It has TBI / Throttle body injection, Fuel system.

User Avatar

Fuel injection systems do not need to "bled." However, if Questioner is actually trying to ask, "Should I relieve pressure in a fuel injection system before performing fuel system maintenance?" then the anwer is yes.

User Avatar

Yes it is a TBI / Throttle Body Injection. Fuel injected.

User Avatar

A fuel injection system on a car replaces the need for carburetors.

User Avatar

No. A single point fuel injection system looks very much like a carburetor though.

User Avatar

MPFI is Multi-Point Fuel Injection, which is the fuel system used with gasoline engines. CRDI is Common Rail Direct Injection, which is the fuel system used in diesel engines.

Diesel Common-rail Injection - (Diesel Fuel Injection System)

User Avatar

EFI stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. The fuel injection atomizes the fuel by pumping it through a small nozzle under high pressure.

User Avatar

CRDI is an abbreviation for common rail direct fuel injection. This is a direct fuel injection system that is used in diesel and petrol engines.

User Avatar

SFI (Sequential Fuel Injection) also called as SEFI( Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection) . Unlike the Multi Point fuel injection (MPFI) system, SEFI has separate fuel injectors for each cylinder which inject fuel more precisely increasing the fuel efficiency.

You need to prime the fuel injection system.

The main function of the fuel pump is to pump the fuel from the tank to the combustion chamber at the correct amount and correct time...:P
