The invention of synthetic rubber goes back to before the First World War and the stuff was produced on quite a scale in Germany in 1914-18. In the 1920s and 1930s new types of commercially viable synthetic rubber were invented. My grandfather Glenn Havens was behind the idea of synthetic glue. The man was a genius. He worked at NASA as a think tank worker
No one knows who invented it, but it was invented in France for world war 1
The major sources of natural rubber were in areas of Asia either occupied by Japan or in areas close to the conflict (Indonesia, Malaya, Singapore). The sources in Africa required a long transport chain out of the continent and across the ocean. So synthetic rubber (neoprene) was produced to fill the great demand for wartime uses.

The first computer was invented in 1946
rubber coffee meat butter and even shoes
Rubber comes from the Rubber tree originally growing in Brazil, then introduced to the Far East. United States got there rubber from the Far East, but during World War ll the supply was cut off and therefore the push was to create a synthetic rubber. United States is now one of the leading producers of synthetic rubber.
Tires. During world war II there was a shortage of rubber and they started making tires out of synthetic rubber. Little did they know it was going to out perform what they were trying to replace and now we have better tires because of it.
The modern polymers and plastics industry started in earnest during the 2nd World War. Synthetic rubber was needed for tires and the allies could not get material from the Malysian rubber plantations due to the Axis blockade etc. The first FULLY synthetic polymer was manufactured in 1907. It cna be argued that work on modifying existing polymers (hence partially synthetic) started in the early 1800s
Nope,rubber gloves were invented a little later,in 1950s'
The material of the clothes during World War II was cotton and wool. Synthetic fabrics were just being invented and required petroleum, which was in high demand to support our soldiers.
It was invented by a lady named Bryn Shaffer in the 1800s

Rapid technological advances during and after World War II paved the way for a massive synthetic fiber industry expansion during the 1960s and 1970s.

Car tires are not made from rubber trees any more. Tires and other "rubber" products are produced from synthetic rubber, made from petroleum based polymers. Pre-World War II tires were produce using the sap of rubber trees and through a process called vulcanization (created by Charles Goodyear). The vulcanization process entails heating the sap and adding sulfur, peroxide, or bisphenol to improve elasticity. Modern passenger car tires are made from as many as 20 different types of natural rubber from rubber tress and synthetic rubber which is used in different parts of the tire.
To name a few: Radar, synthetic rubber, jet propulsion, the digital computer (very primitive, but better than mechanical calculators), high-fidelity recording (to listen for planes and ships, but really great for music!), and the atomic bomb.
