First of all, it is King Ferdinand. They were the monarchs(king and queen) of Spain during Cloumbus' time. They are the ones who approved Columbus' voyage and sponsored him. They also expelled the Moors(North African Muslims) from Spain.

They were both monarchs in their own right. King Ferdinand of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile. They were also parents to Katherine of Aragon, Queen of England. Who was King Henry VIII first wife and mother of Queen 'Bloody' Mary.

Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand were Spanish monarchs during the late 1400s and early 1500s. Their marriage united the two major ruling houses of Spain to create for the first time, one ruling house and the country that we now call Spain. You might know their daughter, the ill-fated Catherine of Aragon, King Henry VIII's first wife.
