Both John Quincy Adams and Andrew Johnson were elected to US Congress after their terms as President, Adams as a Representative for Massachusetts for 17 years, and Johnson as Senator for Tennessee for about five months.

Although it was not an elected office, William Howard Taft served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1921 to 1930. He was appointed by Warren G.
