There are over 50,000,000 different tribes living in world rainforests. These people depend on the rainforest for survival; they need to gather fruit, which grow on trees in the rainforest. They need the animals that live in the rainforest to hunt and the fish that are found in streams and rivers, for fishing. Some of the major tribes living in world rainforests are The Yanomami, The Huli, and And The Pygmy tribe. The Yanomami tribe was discovered by the outside world in the 1950's. Since then contact with them and deforestation has made their numbers decline greatly. As more and more people visit them, they bring diseases to the Yanomami tribe, which members of the tribe catch, and either get very sick, or die. The Yanomami's main food source is a plantain, which is a type of banana.
The Huli tribe was first discovered living in Papua New Guinea. These people are very tall, and are heavily bearded! For tribal get-togethers, they would wear red, yellow and sometimes black face-paint; they would also wear a crown mad out of feather from birds such as colorful parrot's and eagles. The Huli are closely related to the Papuans who also live in Papua New Guinea. The Huli people dug ditches to make sure the water flowed evenly through all of their crops, this is also know as irrigation. Their main diet is yams and manioc, but they also ate the occasional village raised pig. They also hunted for large birds, monkeys, and sometimes even rodents. The Pygmy tribe was first discovered in Africa. The Pygmy tribe is a very social tribe; they have many tribe dances and get-togethers or "parties". They are fairly tall with brown or black hair. Many of the tribe members work to support their families. They might get jobs as house builders, which is probably the most common job. The Pygmy tribe's main food source would be gathering fruit and hunting for wild animals in the rainforest. Many tribe members have died because of un-healthy living conditions, and lack of health care to help treat these conditions. Deforestation of the rainforest has a major effect on the tribe too, because it is destroying their food sources and even their homes.
The main concern for these tribes is lack of food sources, from deforestation. Deforestation is destroying their food sources, which are mainly wild animals and fruit bearing trees. Deforestation has also had a great affect on their homes, because most of the tribes, which live in a tropical rainforest, are getting larger, and at the same time are getting closer to major civilization and huge cities. As deforestation is becoming larger and so are the tribes, the tribes face a greater risk of being wiped-out by deforestation.
