Unemployment benefits are determined by the state you reside in. Different states have different rules and regulations with regard to the benefits one can receive.

To be eligible for unemployment benefits applicants must meet certain basic conditions. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the rules determining eligibility have been slightly altered.

Gig workers and freelance workers are also eligible for unemployment benefits. It is a good idea to log in to the official state unemployment site to know how much exactly you are eligible for.

To determine your eligibility in these times you can access the simple to use eligibility calculator that this site has come up with. fileunemployment.org/coronavirus/

However, you should always check with on the official state site to determine your eligibility. These are tough times for everyone who is going through unemployment at the moment. Always remember that these times never last and only make us stronger for the future.

Unemployment benefits are managed by state unemployment offices. Each state has different rules and regulations pertaining to benefits.

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 states have activated "Extended Benefits (EB)" authorized by the federal government. As per the new guidelines, claimants are eligible to receive $600 a week as part of the EB program.

States have also extended the number of weekly benefits one can receive. Make sure to check the states official site to know how much time can you receive benefits for. Eligibility parameters have also been eased you can find out all about eligibility right here. fileunemployment.org/coronavirus/

Once you check your eligibility always re check on the official state site to see if you meet the eligibility requirments.

No one really knows when will the situation get better. Experts have predicted the unemployment rate to reach 32%. This will only put more pressure on state unemployment offices which are elaready facing an onslaught.
