Contrary to the previous answer, Christians did Not kill off the Druids
The Romans (another 'Pagan' people) all but wiped out the ancient druids ('educated' class of judges, healers, royal advisors, bards and prophetic seers) for reasons of their own that was probably political due to their influence on the 'Celtic' tribes that were at that time in the process of being conquered.
The bardic tradition part of their ways was carried on for a few centuries and finally died out in the 17th century .
It was revived in the late 17 / early 1800's by the poet William Blake and others
