False. In January 1969, shortly after Nixon's inauguration there was 543, 300 troops stationed in Vietnam, by the end of that year the American force level fell to 475, 200, and by 1972 there were only 24,000 (The Tragedy of Vietnam). Do the math, that's hardly a few thousand.

Although officially ending during Nixon's administration, Nixon requested and received an extension of the draft. During President Ford's administration there was NO DRAFT.The president didn't stop the draft; it expired under the Nixon administration. Nixon actually requested an extension for the draft.
