Bango Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the President of Bangladesh from 1971 April 11 to 1972 January 12.
After Bangladesh's declaration of Independence Sheikh Mujeeb was declared as President of Bangladesh. However, he was at that time arrested by Pakistani forces. Bangladesh's government in exile appointed Syed Nazar Islam as acting president in place of Sheikh Mujeeb. Rahman was later Prime Minister from 1972 January 12 - 1975 January 24, and then President again until he was assassinated on 1975 August 15 by the military.
