This story is in the Book of Esther, which says that King Xerxes chose Esther from all the most beautiful virgins in the empire, after he divorced his first wife, Vashti.
However, there is no historical record of either Vashti or Esther, and Queen Amestris is accepted by historians as Xerxes' only wife for the first several years of his reign. From a historical perspective, this beauty contest did not really happen.

The proud Queen who snubbed the king's order was Queen Vashti in the Bible. King Ahasuerus wanted her to appear before him and his guests to showcase her beauty, but she refused, which resulted in her being deposed as queen.
Some would argue that while the vocabulary and grammar hadbeen updated, the meaning has not. The New King James Bible is a modern translation of Holy Scripture in which the translators aimed to retain the "purity and stylistic beauty of the original King James".The New King James Bible based its translation on the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic texts including the Dead Sea Scrolls.

No. The Lion King always made more money than Beauty and the Beast.
According to the book of Esther, Queen Vashti was executed after she refused to come in front of the Persian King Achashverosh. Once Vashti was executed, the king needed a new wife. Achashverosh had all of the beautiful unmarried women in the country brought to the palace to participate in a beauty pageant during which he chose Esther to be his new bride. However, Esther wasn't chosen because she was the most beautiful. Prior to the pageant, all of the women were offered their choice of jewels, clothing, and beauty treatments. Esther though, didn't ask for anything and it was her modesty and inner beauty that caused the king to choose her.
