This would be easier to answer if you could be more specific. Spain was a monarchy until 1929, then a republic until 1939, then a Dictatorship until 1975. Now Spain is a constitutional monarchy. The current king is Juan Carlos I. Before him, the dictatorship was ruled by Francisco Franco (from '39-'75).
