There were the Visigoths (Goths of the west) and Ostrogoths (goths of the east). They were a Germanic people which means that they were part of the linguistic family which gave rise to German, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and English.
They originated from southern Sweden or the Polish coast.
The were allowed to settle in the lower Danube area of the empire by emperor Valens. Later, King Alaric I had disputes with emperor Honorius and besieged Rome three times. On the third occasion he sacked it. He then went to Calabria (the toe of Italy) and died. It has been suggested that he wanted to go to Africa to disrupt food supplies. His successor moved to southwestern France. He helped the emperor to defeat a usurper in Gaul. He was granted land. He fought with the forces who defeated the Hun's attempt to invade Gaul.
The Visigoths also expanded into Spain. The Franks pushed then out of Gaul. They became the Spanish aristocracy. The Visigothic kingdom in Spain lasted until Spain was conquered by the Moors.
The Visigoths were the Goths of the west. The Goths migrated through eastern Europe from Scandinavian and eventually reached Ukraine. Some of the Goths asked the Romans to be allowed to settle in the lower Danube area of the Roman Empire to escape the Huns, who were conquering their homeland. This was granted. They then were called Visigoths, the western branch. The other Goths were overrun by the Huns and were under their rule from about 75 years. They came to be known as the Ostrogoths (Goths of the east). Alaric I, a king of the Visigoths had a dispute with Roman emperor in the west (Honorius) and besieged Rome three times. On the third occasion he sacked it. His successor, Ataulf, took the Visigoths to south-western France.
It is unlikely that Huns and Visigoths will descend on the US

How did the battle of Cannae affect the Roman empire
The [Visigoths] were a tribe of germanic peoples from the Holy Roman Empire (the unified German states). So your answer would be Germany.
In 410 the Visigoths (Goths of the west) sacked the city of Rome. They did not destroy it.
The Visigoths killed the Roman Emperor Valens at Adrianople.

Visigoths.
The Visigoths were a group of tribes in what is now Germany prior to the fall of the Western Roman Empire (476 AD). The Visigoths were, among other tribes, considered barbarians by the Romans.
It is unlikely that Huns and Visigoths will descend on the US
Parthians, Carthage, Persia, Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Vandals, Alans, and Huns. Rome defeated most of these groups, but the Visigoths, Ostrogoths, and Huns (you may have heard of Atilla the Hun) were the groups that contributed to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
There was not an empire which led Rome and there was not a conquest of Rome. Rome had an empire: the Roman Empire. Although the invasions by the Germanic peoples led to the fall of the western part of the Roman Empire, the city of Rome was never conquered. Ancient Rome was sacked by the Visigoths in 410 and by the Vandals in 455, but it was not conquered. Both Visigoths and Vandals withdrew after the sack. They did so before units of the Roman army from elsewhere in the Roman Empire would catch up with them.
