Several countries had representation in the American Revolutionary War. The British and Americans, obviously, made up most of the troops. The French assisted with men and material on the American side. The British hired German mercenaries called Hessians. The American soldiers were drilled into battle shape by a Prussian, Friedrich von Steuben.
