Who were the first Europeans to discover Iceland?

Well This isn't my favourite subject but I'll answer anyway, I am pretty sure it was the Norwegian Vikings who found Iceland, although originally they called it Greenland, but when going back they went too far and hit modern day Greenland thinking that it was modern day iceland, this proberly sounds very confusing, the vikings are also technically the first to find America as well, landing on the shores of New Found land as they called it. and lower Vineland which no longer exists, the flag being green with the norwegian cross. the iclandic flag being similar but the red and blue swapped. later on Iceland came under the control of Denmark. Vikings are called vikings because when they went conquering or exploring they went "a-Viking" hence the name, really vikings are one of many barbarian tribes similar to that of Dacia, visi and osta-goths, Germans, and the later Saxons whom they fought over for England, in fact right up to 1066 with harald hadrada, who was killed at Stanford. Normandy was also a viking settlement near frankish territory in gaul (modern day France) Iceland was one of many places under Viking rule.
