In the early 1960's, there were a great many people who participated in the Civil Rights Movement, in an attempt to end racial segregation and discrimination of various sorts. Perhaps the one person who is best remembered for his participation in this movement is Martin Luther King Jr. But I would also mention President Lyndon B. Johnson, who brought about the Civil Rights Act of 1965.
