The Triple Entente was an Alliance Forged By UK, France and Russia and they Were against The Triple Alliance Made Up of Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary (which at the time was one Big country) and It all Started because Serbia a country not in an alliance assassinated Franz Ferdinand The Leader of Austria-Hungary, who then declared war on Serbia.
Serbia then asked Russia for military assistance and Austria-Hungary Declared war on Russia, Germany also thought this was a good idea and declared war on Russia. Then France Thought they had a good tactical position to attack the unprotected border of Germany. But Then Germany Invaded Brussels and the UK. Declared war on Germany for attacking a neutral country... Italy Just Stood By sending in a couple of thousand men, but didn't do much.
Then after a while as the Triple Alliance was starting to win Italy Joined their side to make them even stronger, because they didn't want to be on the losing side. America didn't get involved until a couple years after the war started because Germany sunk a passenger ship.
WWI Was the creation of tanks, By a Engineer in The UK. and this rendered the Trenches Useless and only a last resort as the tanks could just drive straight over them. The UK. Could also get a lot of soldiers from Canada, Australia and were ever else they had colonies when the new world was found or were the queen is head of state, America obviously had Independence from The UK. so it was America's Choice. But they Didn't have the most Men... Germany did.
But after four years and Germany and Austria-Hungary had lost Most of Their men and resources they Signed a treaty in France and the war finished, But Germany was stripped of many countries making it much smaller and it wasn't able to build up its army as much so it couldn't attack again.
