The answer is Superman, the man of steel. Superman is better than Batman in many ways. Superman flies whereas Batman doesn't, he can only travel by his Black-car. Superman can destroy 10,000 villains at a time, with his blazer beam whereas Batman has to take his enemies down one by one at a time. If an enormous building is on fire, Superman can either blow out the flame with his super-breath if there are many hostages or just fly into the building and save the person, whereas Batman has to watch out for the steps, fine the hostage and then look for an exit. Batman risks his life to save others whereas Superman just does things as an amusement. Superman is better.

Would totally depend on the circumstances. Batman knows a great deal about Superman's weaknesses and could thus gain the upper-hand by exposing him to kryptonite or a red sun. The batman from the "Red son" storyline (Where superman was a communist) Batman was able to beat him using those weaknesses. However if Superman decides to fight batman without batman being able to prepare, superman would have won in about 1 picoseconds.

Or Doomsday who is virtually unstoppable! If Superman were out of the picture, how would Batman defeat these characters? That's right Batman can't. That's why Superman is better, because he protects the WORLD from alien threats on a global scale, not just a city.
