Both are true in one sense. Think about it this way. Everyday, you and I live a life of faith. When we go out to our car, we expect it to start, not explode. We (foolishly) put faith in doctors to do what is best for us and solve the problem rather than treat the symptoms. We put faith in the food companies and farmers when we eat their products that they are not going to kill us or make us sick.
In the same way, God, at least, according to The Bible, asks that we put faith in Him. The book of Hebrews says, "Without faith it is impossible to please God. For whoever comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who work hard to find Him."
"Religion" demands faith just like everything else in our lives.
Ok, science cannot prove or disprove the existence of a God who does not want to be proven or disproven. God wants people to trust Him. Once a person trusts Him, then that person often realizes how much the facts of science (not the theories) point to the existence of God.
Science -- REAL, unbiased science (or else it is not science) -- cannot prove or disprove God, because the existence of God must be accepted by faith. Whenever the Bible makes a scientific reference, it is always accurate, but the Bible is not necessarily using science to prove itself true. For example, Columbus used the Bible to try to prove that the earth is round. He succeeded in proving the world is round AFTER he put his faith in it and went out exploring. [Note: he based his ideas on a verse that used the word "spheres" to describe the celestial bodies in the night skies. This one "scientific" reference in the Bible changed the world forever.]
So, even though the Bible (religion) is accurate, God will not use science to prove Himself. He wants our faith instead.
the inability of science and religion to blend
That it, and we, exist.
Both religion and science stem from the need of explanation how human come to exist and how the world around us work or created.
Religion has very many definitions. A religion can incorporate a supreme being, but people would argue it is not part of their imagination. Religions revolving about nature and the superiority of science and the Universe exist as well. Religion can be defined as what you do and your spirituality. What you beleive.
Any magic exist in science; magic is a characteristic of pseudoscience and religion.
It is a pretend science. Something that people try to pretend has been derived from scientific observation but has not. Think of evolution for example. Taught like it has been proven yet it hasn't. Religion vs science.
Hippocrates was the first in ancient Greece to separate medicine from the religion. Science as we know it did not exist in ancient Greece, their systematic observations would have likely been called something like natural philosophy.
It can cause everyone to finally figure out that god doesnt exist and that evolution and science are correct. Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned. Religion is man's way of hiding behind his fears and flaws. It explains the unknown with an easy answer. Cultural difference will eventually show that traditions are nice and cultural diversity is important, but religion is false and completely unnessecary. Science will truly answer life's deepest questions with real substance
I don't think this question can really be answered. It is so highly subjective that you will never find universal agreement. I believe that how (science) and why (religion) are extremely important questions to us as human beings, but there will be just as many who say that one matters more than the other, or that both are ultimately meaningless.Another Perspective:Some groups and individuals, from both communities, will always be in opposition. Generally however, science and religion are relevant to each other. They can (and do) co-exist and are mutually supportive. Religious questions and assertions stimulate scientific inquiry, and Scientific discovery (the result of inquiry) aids religion in its search for truth. However, This view does not imply that science and religion are always in agreement, especially in terms of how new knowledge is to be applied in our daily lives. The Coordination of Science and Religion (COSAR) with the Truth of Reality is exquisitely embedded throughout The Urantia Book. The Urantia Papers emphasize that religion and science are not two antagonistic views of reality; they are views of two aspects of reality, those aspects being the personal and impersonal natures of God. The bumper sticker you may have seen lately "In the Beginning, God Created Evolution" demonstrates the increasing consciousness of our Cosmic Citizenship and a healthy respect for science (COSAR expressed on a bumper sticker). The COSAR Principle as described in Up Close and Personal with The Urantia Book - Expanded Edition addresses this with a great degree of satisfaction.
Why, as a scientific question, seldom, if ever has any meaning or merit, because science is concerned with the way the world is, any answer to such a question can only ever involve belief and/or religion. Stick to "how?" and "what?".
I am Muslim and in our religion we do believe in ghosts as "Gin" they do exist and we do believe in them. It is in our religion.
Christianity is the main religion. There exist christian churches.
