2002 Ford Taurus
There are four relays that run the fans. Check them. In the mean time run your defogger and that should kick on the fans.
No/low coolant, bad thermostat, dirty/plugged radiator (inside and/or outside of it), air pocket in coolant, electric fan relay, temp switch for fans, bad fans.
check your coolant in your radiator northstar engines are designed to have your fans running if you have low coolant.
Check the coolant level. Check the thermostat, the rad. the fans, water pump. Many reasons.
Air flow through radiator restricted with debris. Coolant flow through inside of radiator restricted with debris. Low on coolant. Faulty thermostat. Coolant fans inop.
your themostat does not control your fans your fans are controled by coolant temp sensor if they are running all the time the problem is in the coolant temp it not working and ecm is overriding it and alowing the fans to run all the time.
The cooling fans are controlled by the engine computer. It watches the coolant temp sensor, which is near the thermostat, to decide when to run the fans. Yhe computer acuates a realy to turn the fans on.
Its a thermostat in a fluid. Turn the key to RUN and youll see it light up
You need to have the fan relay switch checked for it being bad.
The engine cooling fans are not functioning, low on coolant, bad thermostat,
turn on the AC then off again. this will kick on the secondary cooling fan. You will watch the coolant temp go down. it is normal for the sl2 to run UP TO 3/4 hot.
