I am not sure that all history must be treated geographically, but certainly geography does play an important role in what happened to a country or a population. For example, the availability of lakes, rivers, and oceans made it possible for ancient people to travel and to find food. The presence of certain kinds of minerals, or the presence of certain plants, or whether soil was good for growing food, all of these things are factors. Were there mountains that prevented people from getting from one place to another? Was there a harsh climate that made it difficult for people to survive? Knowing about the geography of a time and a place helps us to understand how people lived, where they went, and how successful their journeys were.

Is History is an important subject at school?

It depends on the type of future you want, but it is a interesting topic As the original answer said it depends on you personally (whether you are a mathematics brain or a humanities brain) but it is an important subject "Without history you might as well have been born yesterday", Mathematics (financial mostly) is also important, but history is quite an important subject (but it also depends on whether you have an avid interest in it), but overall it should be considered an important subject (even if you aren't good at it you should still be able to appreciate it's importance).
