Why are both tail lights out on a 2004 Monte Carlo fuse is good?

I have this problem now.They say wiring,doubt it. Like the ground in trunk. Brake switch far up the pedal. I heard that the wiring runs through the flasher switch in the stearind column, so when your lights go out click your blinker down, maybe a few times. Then they should work for only a bit. See some time just the driver side will work on mine. Now I dont have a book so if you have directions and preferred tools to use of getting that switch out please send me an email at ritchieandgen@Yahoo.com

Both. The Monte Carlo SS had a floor shifter (what I own), but the regular monte's had column shift

The turn signal flasher on a 2001 Monte Carlo is behind the hazard button on the instrument panel. You have to take out the instrument panel bezel to access it. I found this out through a Haynes repair manual for that car. I have to replace mine and did some research. The turn signals and hazard lights are both tied into the same flasher. Hope this helps.
