They are not. A gun is an inanimate object. It is not capable of acting on its own. However, there ARE people that are dangerous to society- they have chosen to ignore rules about living with, and not harming other people. They would be dangerous with a gun, a knife, a pointy stick or a rock. We do not blame cars for drunk driving, or matches for burning down a church- but it makes sense to some people to blame guns for crime.
