I think it is the matter of perspective. If there is a lot of pressure, school and job look equally dull and pathetic. On the contrary, if you are doing or studying something that you really like, there is no question of boredom. So, choose your subject and career with care. Go after something that you are really passionate about and you're bound to enjoy yourself.
