Best Answer

There are so many unique Australian animals because Australia is on a continent that is pretty far from other continents. These animals were made for where they live, and they make their habitats there.

Australian animals are special because they can not be found anywhere else in the world. Since Australia is an island surrounded by water these animals can not travel to other countries and populate there.

Because Australian animals have been isolated from other continents for millions of years they have learnt to adapt to Australia's harsh conditions.

Such animals as the Koala only live of the eucalpyt (sorrry bad spelling lol)

And kangaroos have a long tail and sharp claws to keep their balance and escape from those who hunt them quicker.

The platypus has a spur on its claw which can poison people and kill a small dog.

Desert animals such as the lizards are adapted to the temperature and can sunbake without overheatting and dieing.

Many of Australia's animals and plants are unique to only this continent because the climate is warm and hot and rarely is cold. There are not many countries or continents in the world with this quality. It also helps that there is more than two thousand square miles of the Outback, where animals can live in peace. For example, the kangaroo likes dust, warmth, and space. All can be attained in Australia.

Australia has been isolated from other continents for nearly 150 million years. This allowed many organisms to evolve there, and they could not travel from Australia to other areas. Australia's isolation prevented any organisms from invading Australia from other areas and out competing Australia's unique native organisms. That changed, however, when humans arrived, and brought invasive species such as dingoes, and later rats, rabbits, and cats. Together, these creatures and humans did a number on many species native to Australia.

They evolved from mega-species, due to being separated from the other countries they evolved into smaller species of themselves.
