Neither were they influenced by the quackery espoused by the british medical fraternity as were english speaking countrys like the collonys and the USA. Circumcision is a religious practice that seems to have taken hold original in the Middle East. it is also practice by small populations for cultural reasons right of passage to man hood etc by some smaller tribal groups in other parts of the world. It was originally introduced into the English speaking western world by English medics in order to stop boys masturbating, The Europeans were not so easily convinced of the need to do this.
