1. Most premature babies born to Jehovah's Witnesses survive quite well without blood transfusions. In fact, in most cases involving anyone, prematurity does not call for blood transfusions. 2. There is no obligation to the Watchtower to refrain from the use of blood. 3. Jehovah's Witnesses who may be medically advised to take blood refuse to do so on the basis of what the Bible says, in Acts 15:28 & 29, as well as in other places. 4. It is becoming more and more evident with the passing of time that those patients who refuse blood generally are actually better off medically than those who accept it. Note the following quote: "Because blood transfusions are so common, they are deemed a safe procedure. However, a recent study found the blood stored in donor banks may not be as safe as once thought. Researchers found patients who received transfusions with blood that had been stored for 29 days or more were twice as likely to suffer hospital-acquired infections like pneumonia, upper respiratory infections and sepsis. Current federal regulations in the United States allow red blood cells to be stored for up to 42 days."
