You may not be able to post a topic if you are an unregistered user.
If you are a registered user, you cannot post a topic in the Just Chatting and General Discussion sections for two reasons. This is to reduce nonsense posts and spamming of the community, which has become very prevalent lately in the community forum. To post a new topic there, just contact a supervisor to help you set it up.
This is a topic for the community forum. Please, whoever asked this, go to the community forum at the left and post this topic.
To post in a community forum, you need to register an account with them. Once you have a registered account with the community, you will have the ability to post under that user name.
First, sign up for an account on WikiAnswers (if you do not already have one). The Community Forum is only available for registered users. Then, find a topic in one of the Forum's sections. At the very bottom left hand corner, there is a 'post reply' box which will take you to a place where you can write and save your post in the forum.
A little background before we start: to post, you must be logged in, and not everybody can post in every forum. If you are blocked, you also won't be able to post. No one can post in the main forum page, you must go to a sub-category to post. Now, to use the forum, click 'Community forum' in the blue bar on the left of the screen. You will now see a forum. Click one of the sub-categories. You may be able to post there depending which one it is. If you cannot, click on one of the already started topics. As long as a supervisor hasn't locked it, you should be able to post. If you are able to start a new topic, then there will be a 'New Topic' button right above the forum (and the announcements). There is also one on the bottom of the page. The same applies for posting a reply to a topic.
There is a topic for this in the Events Forum.
A forum is a bulletin board where users can post a topic and respond to topics.
You can post it in the Community Forum in Malfunction Discussion. If you are a Supervisor, post it in the Supervisors' Forum in Bug Reports.
Viewing Your Own PostAs of now, only Supervisors have the option of doing a search for their own post on the Community forum.
Typically you'll see a 'post thread' link. Though this varies from forum to forum. If you provide my with a link I can see if I can find it for you.
First, go to the forum in which you want to post the topic. When you reach the forum, look on the page and there will be a button that says "Start a Discussion".
Regular contributors and even supervisors can not add a thread on the board index in the Community Forum. Only those with the 'advanced powers' can do so. But, you can add a thread/topic on the subforums. For example, you want to add a thread on the 'Just Chatting' forum.# Click Just Chatting # Scroll down until you find the New Topic option # It will take you to the Post New Topic Page # Fill in the Subject and what you would like to write # If you want to see how your post would look like once it has been posted, click Preview # Click Submit to add your new topic # Done! You could always edit your post by clicking the edit link in the right top corner of the post!
You can actually search the Community Forum for an old post. Use keywords from your post and you'll get results according to wherever the keywords were used. Older posts get pushed down as new posts come in.
