first reason is,that the law doent allow it. then the Australian tractors have more gears to enable the heavier loads. the trucks are basically the same apart from the gear boxes. the Australian roadtrains do not enter big cities and are used mostly in remote areas

Apart from Australia which other countries have roadtrains?

As a generic term, "road train" refers to a tractor pulling multiple trailers. There are three types of coupling methods for these...An A-train uses a converter dolly with a fifth wheel on it. It is attached to the lead trailer by a pintle and clevice. In the US, most double trailers you see will be A-trains - typically, two 28' trailers. In some parts of the US, you might see turnpike doubles - two 45'-48' trailers in A-train configuration, Rocky Mountain doubles - a 45'-48' trailer as the lead with a 28' pup attached to it in A-train configuration, or A-train triples - consisting of three 28' pup trailers.A B-train has a fifth wheel mounted on the back of the lead trailer, and these are used in many locations throughout the world... they see some limited use on certain routes in Europe, they're used in southern Africa, they're used in Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea), they're used in Canada.. in the US, B-train doubles are limited to Michigan, northern Indiana, and some parts of western New York.A C-train is like an A-train, but uses two drawbars on the converter dolly, rather than a pintle and clevice. C-train doubles can be seen in Canada and other parts of the world, but are quite rare in the US.An Australian road train is a set of at least three b-train trailers, and it is unique to Australia.
