Antibiotics are not the food supplements. They can not be taken as and when you think you should take. Antibiotics are not indicated in all types of infections. Most of the infections are viral in origin and as such do not require intake of the antibiotics. In rural India and in urban area also the general practice is dominated by unqualified medical practitioners. They use the antibiotics as anti fever agents like analgesics. Indian judiciary continues to act as expert in medical field and some times allow the non qualified practitioners to use the modern drugs and at times not. The scenario is very horrible here. It has created the global threat to medical science. There is no option left but to have large scale emergence of drug resistant bacteria. I have repeatedly stated that we have to care as a whole for humanity in particular and ecosystem in general. You can be healthy with part of your body remaining sick. I have my friend in Canada. Dr. Mukund Tinguria. He told me horrible story of not using the antibiotics, in case of his febrile wife, for about one month. Here in India, patients are given antibiotics like you take a cup of tea. It looks that we will continue to behave as stupids. We will either go to extreme left or extreme right, but never have an balanced approach.
