Check water pump
repl. thermosat
repl coolant
repl. water temp. switch
swap coolant fan
Problem solved when repl. cooling fan relay it had an Intermitent
problem. sometimes the electric cooling fan would come on then it would not when temp. was at it peak no fan after repl the relay it worked properly.
Where is the temp sensor on 2000 ford focus zetec engine
If the engine is overheating the temp gauge will go all the way to the right and a red light will come on.
If it is stuck closed, the engine will overheat. If it is stuck open, the engine will take a long time to reach operating temp.
A bad thermostat can cause an overheat. A bad temp sensor can show an overheat when the temperature is normal.
Look at the rear of the radiator approx. 1/3 from the top
Did you make sure that you are putting the themostat in correctly? If you put it in backwardthis can sometimes cause this problem.
The coolant could have frozen in the radiator. If that happens the coolant in the engine will just get hotter. It could also be the thermostat.
you will know your thermostat is broken on your 94 celica because the engine temp will never raise and the engine fan will run continuously. I have a 92 and my thermostat is at the bottom of the engine, hard to get to because it's close to the left quarterpannel. I'd get a chilton's or some other repair manual, it will help you out tremendously. -J
200 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit
Check your cooling fan
Does that mean that you replaced the thermostat AND the sensor? If not, you really need to replace the thermostat. A sticking thermostat can cause temperature swings and potentially overheat the engine. BTW, BMW engines tend to have serious problems when they overheat. Don't let it overheat or you might be buying a new engine.
The temp may not go up until the antifreeze leaks way down. Or the temp gauge may not be working right. The leak needs to be fixed, or the engine can overheat and cause permanent damage.
