It's a matter of opinion, which makes it difficult to answer this sort of question. Supporters of the president would say he cares about average and working people, while Mitt Romney only cares about the super-wealthy. Supporters would also say that Mr. Obama wants to keep jobs in America, while Mitt Romney has a history of sending jobs to third-world countries. Also, many people believe the Republican party has moved so far to the right that it opposes women's access to contraception, opposes equal rights for gay Americans, and believes that all undocumented immigrants, even children who have lived here all their life, should be deported with no chance to ever become citizens. So, although some Americans do believe the country needs a change, they do not believe Mitt Romney would be the best candidate. Still, Mr. Romney has many supporters, and although he lost the election (this question was first asked before the election was held), 47% of Americans voted for him.

here is information about obama

Barack H. Obama is the 44th President of the United States.

His story is the American story - values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others.

With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.

After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, President Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants.

He went on to attend law school, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Upon graduation, he returned to Chicago to help lead a voter registration drive, teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago, and remain active in his community.

President Obama's years of public service are based around his unwavering belief in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose. In the Illinois State Senate, he passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, cut taxes for working families, and expanded health care for children and their parents. As a United States Senator, he reached across the aisle to pass groundbreaking lobbying reform, lock up the world's most dangerous weapons, and bring transparency to government by putting federal spending online.

He was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4, 2008, and sworn in on January 20, 2009. He and his wife, Michelle, are the proud parents of two daughters, Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11.

Mitt Romney is best known for his credentials as a business executive. He served as Massachusetts governor for one term and he has been running for president nearly nonstop since 2007, but his strength as a businessman is an advantage in an election dominated by economic discussions. Mr. Romney is trying to persuade voters that President Obama's policies have not worked and that he should be elected to complete the nation's economic recovery. The room for error for Mr. Romney is narrow. He must win several states that voted Democratic four years ago, particularly a combination of Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia and at least one other state. His campaign is also trying to catch up to the president's team, which has been steadily building an organization for more than a year. He must energize Republicans, while appealing to independent voters, including many of those who supported Mr. Obama last time.

In 2012, despite a slow economic recovery due to global financial challenges, Mr. Obama was seen as a better choice than his Republican opponent Mitt Romney. Although some Americans thought Mr. Romney would be a good person to improve the American economy because he was a well-known business executive and venture capitalist, he was perceived by a majority of Americans as a candidate whose policies would mainly help the rich. The Republican party's extreme turn to the right on social issues also alienated many moderates and young women. Further, the Republican party was unable to move beyond its base supporters (white males, evangelical Christians, and older voters), while the Obama campaign was able to expand its electorate by gaining the support of Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans, and (again) young voters. Also, the president's "ground game" of identifying likely voters and getting them to the polls worked far more effectively than Mr. Romney's did.

The 2012 election was much closer than that of 2008, but Mr. Obama was able to persuade the majority of Americans that he was moving the country in the right direction and deserved four more years to continue improving the economy and getting more Americans back to work.

It depends on your opinion. If you are a Republican and/or a conservative, you probably liked Mitt Romney better. If you are a Democrat and a moderate or a liberal, you probably preferred Barack Obama. There were very real differences in the policies and philosophies of both candidates, and each candidate had his supporters. For example, a majority of white men, people from the South, and older voters chose Mr. Romney; while a majority of younger voters, minorities, single women, and college-educated voters chose Mr. Obama.
