Jesus was the Son of God from eternity past. He is the second Person of the Holy Trinity. He came to earth born as a human being to Mary in Bethlehem and was named Jesus. Later in life He began His ministry on earth (In Israel). After 3 plus years he was crucified on the cross outside the walls of Jerusalem, buried and on the third day was resurrected. While He was on the cross he took the sins of the world upon Himself, paying for them by His shed blood. People who believe in Him and accept Him as their Savior, and follow the will of God will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
Jesus was not "chosen" to be the Son of God. Jesus was begotten by God the Father before time existed, and so Jesus is eternal (as opposed to everlasting, like created man). Jesus is God the Son, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, which existed for all eternity. Jesus was God before His incarnation. Jesus is the only Person who has a true God nature and true Human nature. He is fully God and fully Man. He therefore has two wills, a Divine Will and Human Will.
Note that the Holy Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, a union and communion of three Divine Persons in One God.
because if he came in his real form, everyone who saw him would die, because he's so holy and we are so unholy. So he can in the form of one of us, and had to follow all the commandments and died when he did because it took him that long to obey all of the commandments.
A NT perspective:God became man in the form of Jesus in order to experience earthly life just the same as the rest of humanity, to become mankind's propitiating sacrifice, and to "know what we go through."Hebrews 2:17, 18 - Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
God as Spirit cannot be tempted (James 1:13), but God as the man Jesus could be. Thus He saw man's plight from our point of view, and overcame all for our sakes. Though tempted as we are, He remained without sin - something we cannot do (1 John 1:8, 10).
Hebrews 4:15 - For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
[Quotes from NKJV]
Because God loved us so much that he sent his son to take on humanity and save us from our sins so that we might have eternal life.
John 3:16
For God so loved the World that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
There is a difference between belief and knowing. Belief is acceptance of something as true on another person's word. Our Blessed Lord knew that He was the Son of God, He didn't need to believe it.
God came to earth because hell had become so powerful that man was no longer in freedom to choose between heaven or hell. God created a body for Himself by means of Mary's womb. Jesus was a human being but his soul was Jehovah; as he lived, he conquered the hells by resisting temptations and putting off the flawed human that he inherited from Mary. His final temptation on the cross completed His Glorification and the subjugation of the hells and so His whole Divine Human rose three days later.
God became man according to 1 Timothy 3:16, Isaiah 9:6 because man needed salvation after the fall of Adam and the curse of sin came upon all mankind. The Law only showed man his sinfulness, but there was no redemption through the keeping of the Law (Romans 8:3-6). If the Law could save, then there would have been no need for Christ. God embodied Himself in a robe of flesh for the following reasons:
1. To satisfy the Law where sinless blood is required to atone for sin (Leviticus 17:11), God created Himself a body. Since God is a Spirit (John 4:24), in His spirit form he has no body, blood, nor flesh. It took the shedding of blood to atone for the sins of man since the fall of Adam.
2. God had to come to fulfill the Law in order to bring in a new testament (covenant) between Himself and man. The Old Testament (covenant of the Law) could only be superseded by the New Testament (covenant by grace) after Jesus died (Hebrews 9).
3. To prove that He would resurrect us, He had to take on human form and the body had to die and be dead for several days so that He could receive the glory for proving that the resurrection was not only real, but an expectation that every believer could possess according to John 14:1-3
So that he could die on the cross to save us from our sins.
