John Mason received the land grant from the Council for New England. He had title to the land that became New Hampshire but he never visited the Colony. David Thompson was the physical force acting on behalf of Captain Mason who actually went to the New World and did the work. Mason is correctly listed as the founder but the work was done for him by David Thompson who was Acting in behalf of an absentee land owner.
