God created Satan as Lucifer, the highest ranking angel of all. Lucifer, however, wasn't content to worship and serve his Creator. Full of pride, he rebelled, leading a third of the angels. Unable to match the Almighty God, Lucifer was cast to the earth where he has operated as the devil ever since.

The biblical passages of Job, Isaiah 14:12-15, Matthew 4:3-10, and Revelation 12:7-12 provide a glimpse of Satan's history and character.

God did not create Lucifer as evil but allowed the potential for sin. While God cannot commit sin, He doesn't take it away from those who do. When Lucifer chose to rebel, he instantly became the author of sin. Evil is the result of a free-will choice by Lucifer.

Satan and sin don't foil God's divine purposes. Evil in stark contrast to good, shows God's mercy to whom He chooses to provide salvation. God uses evil and demons for His divine purposes (1 Samuel 16:15-16).

Satan fears God's predestined plan: salvation, new heaven, and new earth for His chosen people who are made holy, perfectly moral, and volitionally loving. He will prove that He is victorious over evil and evil beings who follow Satan's ways. Personal peace of mind about Satan and evil comes from being God-centered. God rules forever!

In the Jewish religion, Satan is the loyal assistant of God, tasked with testing the righteousness of the faithful, as reflected in the Book of Job. Even in the early gospel, the Gospel According to Mark, Satan could be perceived to be tempting Jesus on behalf of God, in order to prove him worthy of his mission. Arguably, Satan entered Judaism from the Zoroastrian religion, where Angra Mainyu (Satan) was the evil adversary of Ahura Mazda. He was created in Zoroastrianism as a challenge to the faithful and a warning of their fate if they failed to obey Ahura Mazda.

In Christianity, Satan is the evil adversary of God, rather than his loyal assistant, in this respect the Christian view of Satan is much closer to the Zoroastrian original. Although Mark's Gospel is ambiguous as to the role of Satan, the later gospels do show him as an evil adversary. Evidence suggests that he was created in Zoroastrianism and entered Christianity via Judaism, as a challenge to the faithful and a warning of their fate if they failed to obey God.

Answer:

The biblical evidence is that God didn't create Satan (adversary). He was created a perfect spirit being, along with all the rest of God's undisclosed number of angels in the beginning before the earth became "without form and void" (Gen.1:2)... after which He re-created the earth and made man.

"...Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned..." (Ezek.28:15-16).

Perfect Lucifer (later, Satan), was given a high position of leadership in God's Government.

"Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty... thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the Holy Mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire..." (Ezek.28:12-14).

Lucifer wasn't content with his position in God's Government.... he wanted more. It was he who "sinned" first in all the universe. Sin is the transgression of God's Commandments - (I John 3:4). Lucifer-cum-Satan sired... fathered... sin.

"...he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the Truth, because there is no Truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." (John 8:44)

God didn't create Satan. He created an innumerable company of angels to assist Him in the creation of His Family, that He would form out of clay molds... man... created in His image.

Of His purpose for the angels, God says: "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister (serve, assist, mentor) for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Heb.1:14)

Evidently, Lucifer became insanely jealous that humans were to become what he could never be - born into God's future Family to become God's Children and, literally, God (Elohim).

He must have harbored his hatred for God... and man... which festered within him for who knows how long, knowing that he could never be God... only a "minister" within God's Government.

His rebellion... and his new name (Satan)... only changed the role he and his demons would play in the "salvation" God's Family.

The angels that chose to obey God's laws have gone ahead ministering and assisting God's Children on their road to salvation as the scripture has said.

Satan and his demons, on the other hand, have been ministering to man in a different way. They have been teaching man perhaps the deadliest and most important lesson of all... the consequences of sin.

God didn't create Satan... but He's using his rebellious attitude and the depths of sin to teach His Children why they should reject sin (breaking His laws). Because anyone who doesn't learn to reject evil and chose the good (learn to get along with others) won't be granted Eternal Life. For all eternity is a long time to be miserable, hate-filled and suffering.

In the Christian religion the figure of Satan did not create hell. Rather, he was cast into it by God. While it is not implicitly stated in The Bible, most apologists claim that hell was created by God. This has and continues to create controversy among Christians as a result of the seeming contradiction between the bifurcated nature of the Christian God.

One Bible View:To answer that question, one needs to understand some basic principles about Jehovah God first.

Jehovah's personality consists of 4 cardinal qualities or attributes: Love, Justice, Wisdom, Power. (Each of those attributes can then be divided even further to cover all the aspects about God.) Everything Jehovah decides on; is governed by a balance of those attributes.

Your question deals with 2 of those attributes, Justice and also Wisdom.

Let me explain how that works.

Justice: involves 'legal' things. It involves doing what is 'right'; 'fair'; 'proper'. Justice involves doing things that are 'righteous'.

Wisdom: in this case involves being able to 'look ahead' at 'consequences', and determining the BEST path to take, -- taking everything into consideration.

So here was the situation. (Please pay close attention to each and every word; all the words are highly important in understanding this whole concept. And you might also pray for Jehovah's holy spirit in understanding this.)

Jehovah God gives his angels various assignments to oversee. He gives them the 'power' to accomplish their tasks. Then Jehovah, (in his Love,) trusts them to faithfully accomplish their assignment.

Jehovah gave to this angel, the assignment of looking after this one planet called 'earth'. At some point, this angel began to deviate in his thoughts. He started to develop 'selfish desire'. So he figured he would 'CHALLENGE' Almighty God.

But: How to do that? How to do that without being wiped out in one swoop? If he challenged Jehovah to a 'dual of power' - - he knew his chances were zilch.

But - - - IF he challenged Jehovah's CHARACTER - that would have to be addressed differently.

Are you still with me?

Example: If your neighbor challenged you to a 'dual of power', that TYPE of challenge could be handled very quickly. You might do a simple arm wrestle. The winner has answered or responded to that CHALLENGE with 'power'.

But what if your neighbor challenged your character? What if he called you a liar? What if he called you a selfish Father who DOMINATES his family?

How do you respond to such TYPE of challenge? Do you come with a gun, and shoot the guy? Does that answer this TYPE of challenge? No, you have to figure out a different way to respond to that challenge. In your wisdom, you might just let 'TIME' provide the answer. Perhaps you allow YOUR FAMILY to answer the challenge in your behalf. Maybe in TIME, the accuser will be shown to be the 'selfish liar'. Maybe your other neighbors and your family will dispute the charges against you. This will silence the 'ACCUSATION', and the CHALLENGE.

That's how 'Wisdom and Justice' are involved in this real life situation.

Back to the Garden of Eden: Satan did not challenge Jehovah's 'power'. Satan challenged Jehovah's 'character'. He called God a 'liar'. IN EFFECT, He challenged God's 'RIGHT to rule the way he does'. IN EFFECT he challenged not only the 'right', but also the METHOD of ruling. (IN EFFECT there were other issues implied, but space does not allow us to cover it all in-depth.)

Now if you can imagine: All the other angels are 'watching' this new development in the Universe. How would the Almighty react? Would he react in 'wisdom'? -- in 'justice'? - or simply with 'power'? (Also - - - ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS, would learn of this situation, -- and wonder some basic things.)

If God simply wiped out anyone who ever challenged his; what would it prove? It would ONLY prove that God was stronger. The accusations and challenges, would still be left unanswered for all future generations to wonder about. Now what kind of a Universe would he have created for himself? It would show that God is NOT JUST; and not very 'smart' or 'wise'.

Therefore in Jehovah's inimitable 'wisdom'; He decided (within an instant), to ALLOW TIME and METHOD to answer the challenges and accusations. (But only 'enough time' to prove the point.)

So Jehovah gave Satan TIME to 'rule,' --- using HIS OWN METHOD.

Jehovah also ALLOWS all other CREATION to show where they stand on the issues. They have the privilege of proving Satan a blatant, selfish liar; and proving that they indeed LOVE Jehovah, and believe that He is NOT what he's accused of being. This all takes time TO ESTABLISH.

Just like any COURTCASE; it takes TIME to present the arguments; to counter the arguments; to study the history; to study previous similar situations, etc.

The TIME ALLOTED to Satan; and to mankind to show where they stand; is running out quickly. Earth has become the COURT ROOM. The answers are all in.

The situation on earth: the chaos, the hatred, the selfishness, the wars, crime, violence; pollution; injustices; etc etc - this all proves something. Satan's way of INDEPENDENCE from God's requirements - has not worked all to well.

Most humans also have taken their stand. They tamper with God's righteous requirements, viewing them as not really righteous. Their governments permit abortion; adultery; sex before marriage; homosexuality.

Yet the masses continue to 'vote' for their leaders; thinking that somehow they can figure it out with their next leader. But they are up against a wall; (or should we say, they are in a 'corner') without any more options. The financial system (which is based on 'greed' and 'selfishness'; instead of being based on 'love for fellowman' and 'equality'); this financial system is about to crumble in upon them.

From Jehovah's standpoint, the arguments are all-in; they have been weighed; in fact the VERDICT IS-IN also; and will soon be pronounced. Very soon, Jehovah will finally use his POWER to dismantle Satan's whole system; He will CRUSH all earth's kingdoms (governments / rulerships). Jehovah will 'cut off' all evildoers; every stitchin' one of them.

In the meantime, Jehovah God has had his witnesses. They have tried to help their fellowman to understand these issues of the Universe. They have used their own time and finances to help their fellowman to draw closer to Jehovah God. This has been an enormous display of Jehovah's great LOVE for humankind through his personal witnesses.

Short Answer:

The Spiritual word was created before the physical one. Angels were given the Earth to complete the beautification process, preparing it for the very 'throne of God to come to (see Revelation 21). It was then 'Lucifer' who was in charge of the angels for God. He sinned via pride (see Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28) and changed himself to become the 'adversary' of God - ha Satan.

God then created man to fulfill this failed mission. Physical mankind was created and taught the Law of God. Eve was deceived by now Satan (jealousy that man would inherit his territory) and Adam listened to her over God and sinned. Jesus came to re-establish the path to becoming sons/daughters in God's family.

Jude 1:6New King James Version (NKJV)

6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;

Why do humans respond emotionally to beautiful sights? And why are painters, sculptors, or musicians motivated emotionally (even beyond monetary need) - to create works of beauty? We are created in the image of God (Genesis ch.5), and God himself is a master artist, who (we intuit) enjoys beauty and has made this beautiful world (see Genesis 1:31). The best human efforts to create beauty are a pale reflection of God's own designs. We respond to them because we are made in the Creator's image.
God made the Earth for people: "He did not create [the earth] simply for nothing," but "formed it to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45:18). He wanted people to exist in order to have someone to love, and to give us an opportunity to achieve godliness. All people are tested concerning their use of free-will. We possess a soul which lives on after the body dies and is held responsible for the person's actions. Anyone who is worthy can merit reward in the afterlife. When the righteous use their free-will to obey God despite His being hidden, they have shown that they deserve His love. Their reward will never cease. But even the undeserving are given the kindness of life in this world, and the lifelong ability to draw near to Him.See also:

If Satan was forced to leave heaven because he committed sin and rules hell why would he punish the sinners because they only did as he did?

Answer 1First of all, according to the Bible, Satan was forced to leave Heaven, not Hell. Second, Satan will not punish people in Hell. He will himself be punished in Hell, along with everyone else who ends up there. There are many misconceptions about these things that are often portrayed on TV and in magazines, etc. Another fallacy is that Satan is ruling Hell. The Bible does not teach this. It does teach that there are demons that are following Satan right now, on Earth, but once they are in Hell, they will not have a kingdom of any kind. They will be suffering.Answer 2Satan LIKES to see people suffer. He longs to take revenge on God. If you go to hell you cannot go back..Catholic AnswerNobody is forced, and hell is not a place. Hell is the state of being alienated from God, and Satan chose this of his own free will. In other words, there was no hell before Satan created it by rejected God. Satan does not "rule" hell, again, hell is not a place, hell is eternal suffering because one has rejected the only thing which will fulfill one - and that is God. Satan endures hell, he suffers hell, and he hates God so he tempts humans into choosing hell and rejecting God because he hates God and is attempting to frustrate God's plans.
