Who did the Chinese Exclusion Act ban?

The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 restricted immigration from China. It was enacted under President Chester A. Arthur. The use of Chinese labor for the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad prompted an influx from 1848 to 1870, depressing unskilled labor wages, especially in California. The national act followed several restrictive laws in California and other western states, and general animosity toward Asians. The act was renewed in 1892, made permanent in 1902, and not repealed until 1943.

What kind of weapons did the shoguns have?

In early stage, [[What weapons did Samurai use]] would be the answer. I suppose in 200 years they have not changed much. In last 20 to 30 years, their weapon had some progress mainly by Takashima Shuhan and Egawa Hidetatsu, who built at least one of the six island fortresses([[:w:Odaiba]]) protecting Yedo castle from American ship in 1853 to 1854 and made and put tens of one-or-two-generation-older western cannons from up-to-date ones. In 1854, Perry went back to Yokohama when they tried to cut in to closer to Yedo Castle as they have found an(?) island fortress which they had not been last year. Main reason why Tokugawa lost was that most of their rifles were Dutch Gewehr gun whose bullets were old-fashioned ball shape, introduced by Takashima in 1831 as Tokugawa mainly had relationship with Holland, while Satsuma and Choshu, their opponents, used mainly [[:w:Minié rifle]], which [[:w:Minié ball]]s were bullets which was revolutionally different, bought from a(?) British merchant while there were lots of stock as American civil war had just finished few years before. Even though Tokugawa had connection with France and some support from Holland, they don't have much information on weapons. Bureaucracy was the biggest reason of everything, and death of Egawa Hidetatsu was another. Both Satsuma and Choshu had had battle with European countries beforehand and had lots of information on most advanced weapons with reality.

How did the western nation impact shogunate japan?

In 1853 Perry forced Japanese shogunate its ports for Western markets and thus ending the long lasting isolation (since Tokugawa Ieyatsu became the Shogun ending the Sengoku Jidai period - 1600). This lead to a huge dissatisfaction between both Japanese population and damiyo's (nobles) opposing Tokugawa rule. Those forces rallied behind the figure of Emperor (later known as Meiji) who had until this point no real power. The Emperor's forces won the war and restored the Emperor's power (Meiji restoration - 1867) thus ending the rule of Shogunate. Emperor enacted large reforms which made from feudal Japan a powerful empire in matter of decades.

Western culture is constantly evolving and can be seen as a mix of both. Some argue that certain aspects of Western culture, such as consumerism and individualism, are detrimental to society, while others see contributions in areas like art, technology, and human rights as enriching. Ultimately, how one views Western cultural impact is subjective and can vary depending on personal beliefs and values.

What is an orthodox?

To be orthodox means to conform to the established doctrine, particularly in religion. Orthodox Jews keep to their understanding of the old way without allowing innovation. Orthodox Christians keep to the old way without adopting the innovations of the western Catholic church (like traslating the scriptures into Latin).
