Because the Colonist thought that the taxes the king of England sent forth to them, they did not like the taxes the king gave them so them called the taxes intolerable, because they didn't want to pay the taxes from Another Country for a war over land they didn't get. (A.K.A they were being childish.)

The acts that they passed were intolerable, which really just means that they could not stand it. Britain taxed almost everything, making everything really expensive. The intolerable acts included:

* Stamp Act * Tea Act * Townshed Act

I was called the intolerable act because the British shut down Boston Harbor because the Sons of Liberty destroyed the tea (Boston Tea Party) and they still had to pay for it though. They would not so the British shut down the harbor. The Colonist had to house and feed the "redcoats". The colonist though it was an intolerable act. Patriots could not stand the thought of having to deal with someone from Britain in their home.
