The Midnight ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes awoke the Minutemen at Lexington and Concord. At Lexington, Minutemen fought and either died or ran for cover as the British dominated the battle. At Concord, the British could not fine the store of goods they had been looking for. They set fire to everything that might be holding weapons, and the Minutemen of Concord fought back. To the troops' surprise, proving that the colonists would die for their rights.
And THis KInda SUx
Because at Lexington a shot was fired as the Americans were retreating and fights started. The british marched on to concord then found 300 minutemen waiting for them, fighting broke out again ( I'm not sure why)
The British decided to go to Concord because they got word that weapons and powder were stored there, so in April of 1775 they landed in Charlestown in boats to march the 20 miles from Boston to Concord. Word got to the colonists and they sent 3 men to warn Concord. The three were Revere, Dawes, and Prescott. Revere was stopped by the British, Dawes fell off his horse, and Prescott finished the ride to Concord. Between Boston and Concord was Lexington and the men of the town decided to stop the British before they got to Concord. Seventy seven men and boys waited on the town green that morning for the most powerful trained army of the time. No one knows who took the first shot, but several colonists were killed and some of the houses raided and set on fire by the British. Word got out about what happened in Lexington as the troops moved on to Concord and colonists from around the area began to converge on Concord. When the British arrived in Concord they didn't find what they came for, but found colonists ready to fight. At the Concord Bridge shots were fired between the British soldiers and the colonists. The British began to retreat, but all the way back to Boston they were shot at by colonists who hid behind fences, trees, and rocks. The soldiers were not use to fighting like this and began to go mad. It was a hot day, they wore wool uniforms, had wet boots giving them blisters, and no water or food all day. For the British it was not a good day. It will take until 1776 before the Declaration of Independence is sent to the king and the war really starts. For a good movie on this watch April Morning. You will get a good feel for the events that day.
